Smart Working & The numbers of the “Intelligent Revolution”

BY FRANCESCO FONNESU

The industrial revolution arrived in our country in the 1950s, causing the gradual depopulation of the rural areas and moving the country’s “workforce” to large urban centers, large factories, large production companies.

Working in the factory at the time meant adapting to new technologies, evolving, following the unstoppable process of modernizing the world of work.

This working model still survives, almost seventy years later, but something is changing and there’s an increasingly strong demand for flexibility and competitiveness in the world of work in Italy and Europe. These two terms complied with the new law on agile work in Italy.

According to the Observatory on agile work of the Polytechnic University of Milan, Smart workers & smart working in Italy grew by 14% in a single year (from 2016 to 2017) and by 60% compared to 2013.

Large companies, and not only those in the IT sector, are aware of the benefits of this working method on a daily basis. Companies such as Ferrero, Benetton, Generali, Enel, BMW, and many others already make frequent use of it.

The Ministry of Labor is also equipping itself. In fact, since November 2017, a special platform is available on the website www.cliclavoro.gov.it., which the employers can access with their SPID credentials in order to register electronically the employment relationships established as “agile work”.

It is, therefore, necessary to promote this working method and speak to professionals who are able to draw up agile and convenient contracts and to make clear which advantages and how many of them we have in terms of productivity and savings, both for the company and for the worker.
